What are the 4 Blood Moons?
What is a Blood Moon?
A total lunar eclipse is referred to as a “blood moon” due to the red hue that the moon has during the total eclipse. On some occasions, the eclipsed moon takes on a color that resembles blood. Blood moons are described in the Torah and the Holy Bible as celestial signs connected to specific prophetic events.
What is a Tetrad?
A “tetrad” is the term for a specific event in which four consecutive lunar eclipses are all total lunar eclipses. Tetrads are not uncommon but some tetrads are special due to their timing.
What is Special about the 2014-2015 Tetrad?
The 2014-2015 tetrad has been identified as special for several reasons: the tetrad of blood moons are all visible from the USA; they are all on major Jewish holidays; there will not be any more tetrads for 17 years; the 4th blood moon in the 2014-2015 tetrad is a “supermoon” – and it is a “harvest moon.”
They Are All Visible from the USA
According to NASA eclipse expert Fred Espenak, “The most unique thing about the 2014-2015 tetrad is that all of them are visible for all or parts of the United States of America (USA).” Only the last one is visible to Jerusalem. If Jerusalem is a key location, why would the tetrad be seen from the USA and not be seen from Jerusalem?
One possible explanation is that the United States of America is the only country in the world that was initially founded as a Christian nation. Despite what the revisionist history books teach, the USA was founded on biblical principles and the founding fathers had no intention of keeping the Holy Bible out of public places. In fact, the Holy Bible was one of two books that were utilized in the first USA schools.
The USA was designed with checks and balances to protect the people from the government becoming too powerful and taking away the inalienable rights established in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. As “one nation under God,” the USA helped the downtrodden and defended freedom (e.g. freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms).
It appears that one of the reasons God created the USA was to protect Israel. The USA and Israel are each home to about 6 million Jewish people. The remaining 2 million Jews are spread throughout the world. God used the USA to help rescue the Jews in WWI and the Holocaust of WWII. God also used the USA to help Israel become re-established as a nation in 1948.
For more than 230 years, the USA was Israel’s trustworthy friend and strong protector. That righteous commitment appears to have been forsaken since the arrival of the Obama administration.
The Tetrads Are on Major Jewish Holidays
When a tetrad coincides with major Jewish holidays (e.g. Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles), it is often accompanied by an event that is especially significant for the Jewish people. Eight times in the past 2,000 years a tetrad has occurred close to (but not always exactly on) major Jewish holidays. In the past 500 years, only three tetrads have occurred close to major Jewish holidays.
- 1493-1494 tetrad: The Jewish people were persecuted and expelled from Spain during the Spanish Inquisition in 1492. This is also when Columbus arrived at the Americas. The tetrad was April 2, 1493 to Sept 15, 1494. The four blood moons fell on Passover and the Feast of Trumpets.
- 1949-1950 tetrad: The Jewish people survived the World War II Holocaust, the nation of Israel was re-born in 1948, and began its permanent government in 1949. The tetrad was April 13, 1949 to Sept 6, 1950. The four blood moons fell on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles.
- 1967-1968 tetrad: Jerusalem was re-established as the capital of Israel after the triumphant Six Day War of 1967 (June 5 and 10, 1967). The tetrad was April 24, 1967 to Oct 6, 1968. The four blood moons fell on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles.
No More Tetrads for 17 Years
After the 2014-2015 tetrad is complete, the next tetrad is not expected until 2032-2033. It is purported that none of the tetrads after 2014-2015 will coincide with major Jewish holidays.
The 4th Blood Moon is also a “Supermoon” & a “Harvest Moon”
A supermoon is a full moon that occurs when the moon is at its closest point of its elliptical orbit of the earth. Because it is so close, a supermoon can appear up to 14 percent larger than regular full moons.
The combination of a blood moon that is also a supermoon hasn’t happened for more than 30 years and it is not expected to happen again for another 20 years.
In addition to being a supermoon, this blood moon with also be a harvest moon. A harvest moon is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox.
When the 4th blood moon / supermoon / harvest moon occurs in Sept 2015, it should be very impressive. It will be an especially large moon with a complete lunar eclipse, and is likely to be blood red.
This full eclipse of a supermoon will be visible to most of the world. North/South America should be able to see it on the night of Sept 27. Europe, Africa, and the Middle East should be able to see it in the morning of Sept 28. It is not likely to be seen from the Asia/Pacific area.
The Four Blood Moons of 2014 – 2015
Each of the four blood moons in the 2014-2015 tetrad coincide with a major Jewish holiday. The holidays are significant because they represent two of the three biblically mandated Jewish holidays. The lunar eclipses are usually visible in the early morning hours of the dates listed (not the evening of that date). In addition, there are solar eclipses that fall on Jewish holidays.
- April 15, 2014 – Pesach. Passover (aka the Feast of Unleavened Bread). The Jewish holiday began at sundown on April 14, 2014. This blood moon was visible from the USA.
- October 8, 2014 – Sukkot (aka the Feast of Tabernacles). The Jewish holiday began at sundown on October 8, 2014. This blood moon was visible from the USA.
- April 4, 2015 – Pesach. Passover (aka the Feast of Unleavened Bread). The Jewish holiday began at sundown on April 3, 2015. This blood moon was visible from the USA. This blood moon had the shortest duration of any blood moon in this century.
- Sep 28, 2015 – Sukkot (aka the Feast of Tabernacles). The Jewish holiday begins at sundown on September 27, 2015. This blood moon will be visible from both the USA and Jerusalem. This is the only blood moon of this tetrad that will be visible from Jerusalem.
An Interesting Pattern
Over the past several years, September has become a significant month to both the USA and the world for the following reasons:
- 29th of Elul: Sept 11, 2001 – World Trade Center and the Pentagon were attacked by Islamic fundamentalists. This is believed to have been the beginning of World War III. It originated from the Euphrates river (Revelation 9:14). Based on the Hebrew calendar, this event occurred on the 29th of Elul.
- 29th of Elul: Sept 29, 2008 – USA stock market collapsed. On Sep 29, 2008, the USA stock market fell 777 points (1.2 trillion dollars): more than virtually any other single day in history. The effect of the US stock market collapse was felt across the world: the World Financial Crisis of 2008-2009. Based on the Hebrew calendar, this event occurred on the 29th of Elul — exactly 7 years after the 9/11 attack.
What is Next?
The following upcoming dates may very likely include prophetically significant events:
- 29th of Elul: Sept 13, 2015 – This is the last day of the Shemitah year (and the only day in 7 years upon which debts are wiped out). The 29 of Elul is also the same day as the 9/11 attack in 2001 and the Wall Street Stock Market Crisis of September 2008. If the pattern holds, it may result in a major event in the USA that involves money and economic power. In addition, this day is expected to include a new moon and a partial solar eclipse. Traditionally, solar eclipses are a warning to the Gentiles.
- Yom Kippur: Sept 23, 2015. Also known as the “Day of Atonement,” this is Jewish High Holy day that God enters his judgment into his book. This the day that the Jews seek mercy from God’s judgment. This day also marks the Autumn equinox.
- Sukkot: Sept 28, 2015. Also known as the “Feast of Tabernacles,” this Jewish holiday is a time of rejoicing for the Jews. This will be the 4th blood moon of the 2014-2015 tetrad. It will also be a “supermoon.” This will also be the “harvest moon” (the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox). This is the only blood mood of the tetrad that will be visible from Jerusalem. Historically, blood moons are a warning to the Jewish people.
