What is the End of this Age?
The end of this age is not the end of the world. It is the end of the age in which humans rule the world. It is also the time when evil is no longer allowed to have power in this world. The end of this age is the time in which God will establish His kingdom and eternal reign.
The Kingdom of Our Lord
7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets. (Revelation 10: 7)
15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 11: 15)
The 7th trumpet will announce that the kingdom of the world is over and God is beginning His eternal reign. Before the 7th trumpet is blown, there are 6 other trumpets that will herald different end times events.
As the time draws near for this age to end, several major events will take place. God has provided a way for people to prepare for what will happen.
End Times Prophecies
9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ (Isaiah 46: 9- 0)
Since the beginning of creation, God has revealed the end of this age. Throughout the ages, God has made known what is still to come. Although many of the prophesies were veiled in mystery, God has declared what will happen and even the order in which it will happen. As the end of this age draws near, “the mystery of God will be accomplished just as he announced to his servants the prophets” (Revelation 10: 6-7).
End Times Signs
3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” (Matthew 24: 3)
The Lord has provided signs so that people can know when the end of the age is near. He also provided signs to know when Jesus Christ will return. We are instructed to know and recognize the signs of the times.
End Times Responsibilities
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28: 19-20)
Jesus commissioned his disciples to spread the good news, make disciples of all nations, teach them to obey his commands, and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus also reminded his disciples that no matter what they go through, he will always be with them – even to the very end of the age.
Jesus paid the price of our sin debt. Because of his sacrifice, our sins can be been forgiven if we will repent of our sins and accept Jesus as our Savior/Lord. Salvation is free because Jesus paid the price.
End Times Plea
22 “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. 23 By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. 24 They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.’” (Isaiah 45: 22-24)
14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7: 14)
Almighty God desires that no one would perish but in order to be saved, people must turn to him. There is no other God but him. At the end of this age, “every knee will bow” and “every tongue will confess” that the Lord is God and there is no one else like him.
End Times Accountability
14 What will I do when God confronts me? What will I answer when called to account? (Job 31: 14)
5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.6 “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind. (Genesis 9: 5-6)
…All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame. 25 But all the descendants of Israel will find deliverance in the Lord and will make their boast in him. (Isaiah 45: 24-25)
36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12: 36-37)
20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1: 20)
12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. (Romans 14: 12)
Eventually, everyone will be called to give an account of themselves to God and they will receive God’s judgment. Those whose hope is in the Lord God will be delivered: their names are in the Lamb’s book of life.
God Watches over His Holy People
The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. (2 Peter 2: 9)
35 For it [the Great Tribulation] will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21: 35-37)
…And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God… They came to life and reigned with Christ… This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them… (Revelation 20: 4-6)
End Times Judgment: the Antichrist & False Prophet
26 “‘But the court will sit, and his [the Antichrist’s] power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever. (Daniel 7: 26)
20 But the beast [the Antichrist] was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. (Revelation 19: 20)
End Times Judgment: Those who Worshiped the Beast & Took its Mark
If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name. (Revelation 14: 9-11)
End Times Judgment: the Devil
10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20: 10)
End Times Judgment: the Dead
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20: 11-15)
End Times Results: God’s Everlasting Kingdom
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” (Revelation 5: 13)
27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him. (Daniel 7: 27)
When this age ends, God’s eternal reign begins. Every creature everywhere will give eternal glory to God. To Father God who sits on his throne and to the Lamb of God be praise and honor, glory and power, forever and ever. Amen
